We picked up a copy of "EA Sports Active - More Workouts" and it's pretty good so far.

I have been getting a fair amount of mileage out of the first one -- it's got some good exercises, you can set up a routine and just go, and it only glitches out maddeningly sometimes. The trainer feedback is also considerably less annoying than on the Wii Fit, which is a big plus.

The new one is a sequel, not an expansion, meaning that you can't mix & match the old & new exercises. That part is going to be annoying. It does have some very nice boxing and step aerobics workouts. The water skiing feels an awful lot like the roller blading from the old one with different scenery. :P I'm going to try some of the stretches and ab stuff tonight. I still refuse to jog around the living room though. I have some dignity.

You can import your profile from the old game to the new one, but not much carries over. You have to customize your appearance again, choosing from what actually seems to be a SMALLER set of dorky outfits. None of your old trophies come with you. Since the new game doesn't include the old exercises, obviously any custom exercise routines you made up don't come with you either. It does show some more informative stats which is nice.

Will I sweat to it? You betcha. Will I grumble and curse at having to swap discs to do other exercises? Almost certainly. Will it have fewer random pauses when it decides I'm holding the Wiimote wrong? Let's hope so.

I like it! You can set up a routine and just go. The trainer is WAY less annoying than the Wii Fit one -- at least so far (and you can turn down the chattiness, I checked).

There are still only so many exercises you can do whilst clutching a Wiimote, but these people are pretty darned creative about some of them.

I don't think the sporty games have a lefty mode, which will be irritating for some people.

Also, I suck at catching baseballs, even virtual ones. I'm not actually surprised. (I do apparently have a mean backhand though! The tennis and boxing are awesome for taking out one's pent-up aggressions.)

OMG, it's Wii Fit for grownups!

No yoga, but the rest of the exercises are damned impressive. My squat muscles are sore already. (-:

Did some more stitching on the cross stitch lady of dooooooom. GAH, someone needs to be slapped for recommending doing this on aida. Sadly I've already agreed to do the same picture for a friend in shades of pink. Maybe for the next one I'll make up some art deco mittens. :P

Started trying to play Rock Band 2 songs on Hard mode. Ow. Only got booed off the stage once (that will teach me not to trust "simple" mystery set lists!). Am occasionally adopting the strategy of just skipping all the orange notes. Sigh.

Have realised that work stress is getting to me way too much. There's too much ambient stupidity; I never seem to discharge the current Mad quickly enough before the next one comes along. Oh well, awareness is the first step. Silly post-its are the next ("stupid happens"), we'll see if that helps.

The new CJ Cherryh book ROCKS. I might need to go back and re-read Cyteen, but I'm not hopelessly lost. Yet.

Had a ton of sushi for lunch today. I feel like I may never get hungry again. We stopped for boba on the way back. I have tentatively decided that beverages should not be chewy.

DAMN YOU KENKEN!

It's mostly a lot of fun.

I have 2 characters so far, both on the Wiccana server. A level 6 Dark Templar named Nyame, and a level 13 Conqueror named Phidiana who will probably only be played on Saturdays with the group. I'll likely create a few more characters to try out the different classes; no idea what I'll end up sticking with.

The system requirements are a little steep. We have shiny new his-and-hers desktop PCs to play it on. Now we're off to Ikea to get actual desks for those... (-:
